Homology: Predicted species reactivity based on immunogen sequence: Guinea pig: (81%), Mouse: (75%). Immunogen: Rabbit polyclonal TRPV1 antibody was raised against a 16 amino acid peptide near the carboxy terminus of human TRPV1. The immunogen is located within the last 50 amino acids of TRPV1. Positive Control: 1) Cat# MBS151739 - K562 Cell Lysate. Conjugate: Unconjugated. Physical State: Liquid
products description :
TRPV1 Antibody: TRPV1 is a receptor for capsaicin, the main pungent ingredient in hot chili peppers, and elicits a sensation of burning pain by selectively activating sensory neurons. TRPV1 is a non-selective cation channel that is structurally related to members of the TRP family of ion channels such as TRPC3 and TRPC6. This receptor is also activated by increases in temperature in the noxious range, suggesting that it functions as a transducer of painful thermal stimuli in vivo.

ncbi summary :
Capsaicin, the main pungent ingredient in hot chili peppers, elicits a sensation of burning pain by selectively activating sensory neurons that convey information about noxious stimuli to the central nervous system. The protein encoded by this gene is a receptor for capsaicin and is a non-selective cation channel that is structurally related to members of the TRP family of ion channels. This receptor is also activated by increases in temperature in the noxious range, suggesting that it functions as a transducer of painful thermal stimuli in vivo. Four transcript variants encoding the same protein, but with different 5' UTR sequence, have been described for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
