products description :
Description: NRAS Human Recombinant produced in E Coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 186 amino acids (1-186 a.a.) and having a molecular mass of 20.8kDa. The NRAS is purified by conventional chromatography. Introduction: NRAS binds GDP/GTP and has intrinsic GTPase activity. NRAS is a membrane protein that shuttles between the Golgi apparatus and the plasma membrane. This transport is regulated through palmitoylation and depalmitoylation by the ZDHHC9-GOLGA7 complex. NRAS is activated to a GTP-bound form by a GTPase activating protein and inactivated to a GDP-bound form by a guanine nucleotide-exchange factor. Defects in this NRAS gene result in juvenile myelomonocytic leukemia.

ncbi summary :
This is an N-ras oncogene encoding a membrane protein that shuttles between the Golgi apparatus and the plasma membrane. This shuttling is regulated through palmitoylation and depalmitoylation by the ZDHHC9-GOLGA7 complex. The encoded protein, which has intrinsic GTPase activity, is activated by a guanine nucleotide-exchange factor and inactivated by a GTPase activating protein. Mutations in this gene have been associated with somatic rectal cancer, follicular thyroid cancer, autoimmune lymphoproliferative syndrome, Noonan syndrome, and juvenile myelomonocytic leukemia. uniprot summary :
NRas: Ras proteins bind GDP/GTP and possess intrinsic GTPase activity. Interacts (active GTP-bound form preferentially) with RGS14. Alternate between an inactive form bound to GDP and an active form bound to GTP. Activated by a guanine nucleotide-exchange factor (GEF) and inactivated by a GTPase- activating protein (GAP). Belongs to the small GTPase superfamily. Ras family. Protein type: G protein; G protein, monomeric; G protein, monomeric, Ras; Oncoprotein; Motility/polarity/chemotaxis. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1p13.2. Cellular Component: Golgi membrane; membrane; plasma membrane. Molecular Function: GTP binding; protein complex binding. Biological Process: regulation of long-term neuronal synaptic plasticity; epidermal growth factor receptor signaling pathway; negative regulation of skeletal muscle development; axon guidance; fibroblast growth factor receptor signaling pathway; nerve growth factor receptor signaling pathway; activation of MAPKK activity; MAPKKK cascade; regulation of synaptic transmission, GABAergic; positive regulation of Rac protein signal transduction; negative regulation of cell differentiation; small GTPase mediated signal transduction; positive regulation of cell proliferation; Ras protein signal transduction; insulin receptor signaling pathway; innate immune response; striated muscle cell differentiation; visual learning; negative regulation of neuron apoptosis; blood coagulation; actin cytoskeleton organization and biogenesis; vascular endothelial growth factor receptor signaling pathway; leukocyte migration.
