The Peroxiredoxin solution contains 20mM Tris-HCl pH-8, & 10% glycerol. Sterile Filtered colorless solution.
storage stability :
PRDX2 although stable 4 degree C for 4 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18 degree C. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA). Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.
other info2 :
Biological Activity: The specific activity was found to be approximately 200-230 pmole/min/ ug. The enzymatic activity was confirmed by measuring the remaining peroxide after incubation of PRDX2 and peroxide for 20 min at room temperature. Specific activity is defined as the amount of hydroperoxide that 1ug of enzyme can reduce at 25 degree C for 1 minute.

products description :
Description: PRDX2 Human Recombinant produced in E Coli is a single, non-glycosylated, polypeptide chain containing 198 amino acids and having a molecular mass of 21.8 kDa.The PRDX2 is purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques. Introduction: PRDX2 is part of the peroxiredoxin family of antioxidant enzymes, which reduce hydrogen peroxide and alkyl hydroperoxides. PRDX2 takes part as an antioxidant protective role in cells, and contributes to the antiviral activity of CD8(+) T-cells. PRDX2 has proliferative effect in cancer development or progression. If PRDX2 protection is insufficient against peroxidases, the DNA damage results in neurological disease such as Alzheimer's or DNA damage leading to cancer.

ncbi summary :
This gene encodes a member of the peroxiredoxin family of antioxidant enzymes, which reduce hydrogen peroxide and alkyl hydroperoxides. The encoded protein plays an antioxidant protective role in cells, and it may contribute to the antiviral activity of CD8(+) T-cells. The crystal structure of this protein has been resolved to 2.7 angstroms. This protein prevents hemolytic anemia from oxidative stress by stabilizing hemoglobin, thus making this gene a therapeutic target for patients with hemolytic anemia. This protein may have a proliferative effect and play a role in cancer development or progression. Related pseudogenes have been identified on chromosomes 5, 6, 10 and 13. uniprot summary :
PRDX2: a member of the peroxiredoxin family of antioxidant enzymes, which reduce hydrogen peroxide and alkyl hydroperoxides. Involved in redox regulation of the cell. Reduces peroxides with reducing equivalents provided through the thioredoxin system but not from glutaredoxin. May play an important role in eliminating peroxides generated during metabolism. Might participate in the signaling cascades of growth factors and tumor necrosis factor-alpha by regulating the intracellular concentrations of H(2)O(2). May have a proliferative effect and play a role in cancer development or progression. Three splice-variant isoforms have been identified. Protein type: Oxidoreductase; EC 1.11.1.15. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 19p13.2. Cellular Component: cytoplasm; cytosol. Molecular Function: antioxidant activity; thioredoxin peroxidase activity. Biological Process: regulation of apoptosis; response to reactive oxygen species; removal of superoxide radicals; hydrogen peroxide catabolic process; response to oxidative stress; negative regulation of neuron apoptosis; negative regulation of apoptosis
