products description :
Description: Recombinant Human HSP-27 produced in E Coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 205 amino acids and having a molecular mass of 22.7 kDa. Hsp27 was over-expressed in E Coli and purified by conventional chromatography. Introduction: HSP27 (also known as the Estrogen-Regulated 24K protein, and hsp 28) is a member of the mammalian small heat shock protein family. Hsp27 is expressed constitutively in many tissues and its expression is increased to high levels after various types of stress including elevated temperatures, toxic metals, drugs and oxidants. Also, Hsp27 is phosphorylated in vivo on three phosphorylation sites (Ser15, Ser78 and Ser82) by protein kinases including MAPKAP kinase 2 and the stress-activated protein kinase SAPK2 (p38).

ncbi summary :
The protein encoded by this gene is induced by environmental stress and developmental changes. The encoded protein is involved in stress resistance and actin organization and translocates from the cytoplasm to the nucleus upon stress induction. Defects in this gene are a cause of Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease type 2F (CMT2F) and distal hereditary motor neuropathy (dHMN). [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2008]
uniprot summary :
HSP27: a small heat shock protein that is regulated both transcriptionally and posttranslationally. Modulates actin polymerization and reorganization. Its expression level increases several-fold in response to stress and is phosphorylated by MAPKAP kinase 2. Cytoplasmic in interphase cells. Colocalizes with mitotic spindles in mitotic cells. Translocates to the nucleus during heat shock. Protein type: Heat shock protein; Motility/polarity/chemotaxis; Chaperone. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 7q11.23. Cellular Component: proteasome complex; extracellular space; cytoskeleton; focal adhesion; cytoplasm; plasma membrane; spindle; nucleus; Z disc; cytosol. Molecular Function: identical protein binding; protein kinase C inhibitor activity; ubiquitin binding; protein binding; protein kinase C binding; protein kinase binding. Biological Process: positive regulation of tumor necrosis factor biosynthetic process; response to virus; positive regulation of blood vessel endothelial cell migration; response to unfolded protein; positive regulation of interleukin-1 beta production; retinal homeostasis; positive regulation of angiogenesis; negative regulation of protein kinase activity; gene expression; regulation of I-kappaB kinase/NF-kappaB cascade; vascular endothelial growth factor receptor signaling pathway; cell motility; regulation of translational initiation; negative regulation of apoptosis.
