purity :
Greater than 90.0% as determined by analysis by SDS-PAGE.
form :
The protein was lyophilized from a concentrated (1mg/ml) solution containing 10mM Na2PO4, pH-8.0. Sterile Filtered White lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder.
storage stability :
Lyophilized TNFSF11 although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18 degree C. Upon reconstitution sRANKL should be stored at 4 degree C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18 degree C.For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA).Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.
other info2 :
Solubility: It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized sRANKL in sterile 18M Omega -cm H2O at a concentration of 100 ug/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions. Biological Activity: The activity is determined by a dose-dependent stimulation of IL-8 production in human PBMC and is typically less than 100ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of 10,000 Units/mg.

CYTOKINES AND GROWTH FACTORS; Growth Factors; RANK Ligand
products description :
Description: sRANKL Human Recombinant produced in E Coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 176 amino acids and having a molecular mass of 20 kDa. Introduction: RANKL binds to tnfrsf11b/opg and to tnfrsf11a/rank. Osteoclast differentiation and activation factor. Augments the ability of dendritic cells to stimulate naive t-cell proliferation. May be an important regulator of interactions between t-cells and dendritic cells and may play a role in the regulation of the t-cell-dependent immune response. sRANKL may also play an important role in enhanced bone-resorption in humoral hypercalcemia of malignancy.

ncbi summary :
This gene encodes a member of the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) cytokine family which is a ligand for osteoprotegerin and functions as a key factor for osteoclast differentiation and activation. This protein was shown to be a dentritic cell survival factor and is involved in the regulation of T cell-dependent immune response. T cell activation was reported to induce expression of this gene and lead to an increase of osteoclastogenesis and bone loss. This protein was shown to activate antiapoptotic kinase AKT/PKB through a signaling complex involving SRC kinase and tumor necrosis factor receptor-associated factor (TRAF) 6, which indicated this protein may have a role in the regulation of cell apoptosis. Targeted disruption of the related gene in mice led to severe osteopetrosis and a lack of osteoclasts. The deficient mice exhibited defects in early differentiation of T and B lymphocytes, and failed to form lobulo-alveolar mammary structures during pregnancy. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
