form :
Lyophilized from 10mM Na2PO4, pH 8.0. Sterile Filtered White lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder.
storage stability :
Lyophilized Thrombopoietin although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18 degree C. Upon reconstitution TPO Human should be stored at 4 degree C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18 degree C.For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA).Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.
other info2 :
Solubility: It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized Thrombopoietin in sterile 18M Omega -cm H2O not less than 100 ug/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions. Biological Activity: The ED50 as determined by the dose-dependant stimulation of MO7e cells is < 1 ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of 1,000,000units/mg.
products categories :

products description :
Description: Thrombopoietin Human Recombinant produced in E Coli is a single, non-glycosylated soluble polypeptide chain containing 174 amino acids and having a molecular mass of 18608 Dalton which comprises the receptor binding domain of the Mpl-ligand protein. The TPO is purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques. Introduction: Thrombopoietin is a glycoprotein hormone produced mainly by the liver and the kidney that regulates the production of platelets by the bone marrow. It stimulates the production and differentiation of megakaryocytes, the bone marrow cells that fragment into large numbers of platelets.

ncbi summary :
Megakaryocytopoiesis is the cellular development process that leads to platelet production. The main functional protein encoded by this gene is a humoral growth factor that is necessary for megakaryocyte proliferation and maturation, as well as for thrombopoiesis. This protein is the ligand for MLP/C_MPL, the product of myeloproliferative leukemia virus oncogene. Mutations in this gene are the cause of thrombocythemia 1. Alternative promoter usage and differential splicing result in multiple transcript variants differing in the 5' UTR and/or coding region. Multiple AUG codons upstream of the main open reading frame (ORF) have been identified, and these upstream AUGs inhibit translation of the main ORF at different extent. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2014]
uniprot summary :
THPO: Lineage-specific cytokine affecting the proliferation and maturation of megakaryocytes from their committed progenitor cells. It acts at a late stage of megakaryocyte development. It may be the major physiological regulator of circulating platelets. Defects in THPO are the cause of thrombocythemia type 1 (THCYT1). A myeloproliferative disorder characterized by elevated platelet levels due to sustained proliferation of megakaryocytes, and frequently lead to thrombotic and haemorrhagic complications. Belongs to the EPO/TPO family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. Protein type: Cell cycle regulation; Secreted; Secreted, signal peptide; Cytokine. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 3q27. Cellular Component: extracellular space. Molecular Function: growth factor activity; hormone activity; cytokine activity. Biological Process: positive regulation of protein kinase B signaling cascade; cell proliferation; platelet activation; multicellular organismal development; positive regulation of megakaryocyte differentiation; myeloid cell differentiation; positive regulation of protein amino acid phosphorylation; blood coagulation. Disease: Thrombocythemia 1
