purity :
Greater than 95.0% as determined by(a) Analysis by RP-HPLC. (b) Analysis by SDS-PAGE.
form :
Lyophilized from a concentrated (1mg/ml) solution containing PBS pH-7.4. Sterile Filtered White lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder.
storage stability :
Lyophilized Oncostatin M although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18 degree C. Upon reconstitution Oncostatin should be stored at 4 degree C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18 degree C.For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA).Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.
other info2 :
Solubility: It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized Oncostatin M in sterile 18M Omega -cm H2O not less than 100 ug/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions. Protein Content: Protein quantitation was carried out by two independent methods1. UV spectroscopy at 280 nm using the absorbency value of 0.45 as the extinction coefficient for a 0.1% (1mg/ml) solution. This value is calculated by the PC GENE computer analysis program of protein sequences (IntelliGenetics). 2. Analysis by RP-HPLC, using standard solution of Oncostatin as Reference. Biological Activity: The ED50 as determined by the dose-dependant stimulation of Human TF-1 cells is < 2 ng/ml, corresponding to a Specific Activity of 500,000IU/mg.

products description :
Description: Oncostatin-M Human Recombinant produced in E Coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 227 amino acids and having a molecular mass of 26kDa. The OSM is purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques. Introduction: Oncostatin M is a member of a cytokine family that includes leukemia-inhibitory factor, granulocyte colony-stimulating factor, and interleukin 6. This gene encodes a growth regulator which inhibits the proliferation of a number of tumor cell lines. It regulates cytokine production, including IL-6, G-CSF and GM-CSF from endothelial cells.

uniprot summary :
OSM: Growth regulator. Inhibits the proliferation of a number of tumor cell lines. Stimulates proliferation of AIDS-KS cells. It regulates cytokine production, including IL-6, G-CSF and GM-CSF from endothelial cells. Uses both type I OSM receptor (heterodimers composed of LIPR and IL6ST) and type II OSM receptor (heterodimers composed of OSMR and IL6ST). Involved in the maturation of fetal hepatocytes, thereby promoting liver development and regeneration. Belongs to the LIF/OSM family. Protein type: Cytokine; Secreted, signal peptide; Secreted. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 22q12.2. Cellular Component: extracellular space. Molecular Function: growth factor activity; oncostatin-M receptor binding; cytokine activity. Biological Process: negative regulation of hormone secretion; multicellular organismal development; tyrosine phosphorylation of Stat3 protein; tyrosine phosphorylation of Stat5 protein; positive regulation of peptidyl-serine phosphorylation; peripheral nervous system development; cell proliferation; negative regulation of cell proliferation; positive regulation of peptidyl-tyrosine phosphorylation; behavioral response to pain; positive regulation of MAPKKK cascade; response to heat; positive regulation of acute inflammatory response; positive regulation of cell division; regulation of growth; negative regulation of meiosis; positive regulation of cell proliferation; tyrosine phosphorylation of Stat1 protein; immune response; positive regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter
