Intended Uses: This ELISA kit is intended for laboratory in vitro research use only, not for drug, household or other use! The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm by a spectrophotometer. In order to measure the concentration of Hamster PGE2 in the specimen, this ELISA kit includes a set of calibration standards. The calibration standards are assayed at the same time as the specimens and allow the operator to produce a standard curve of Optical Density versus Hamster PGE2 concentration. The concentration of Hamster PGE2 in the specimens is then determined by comparing the O.D. of the specimens to the standard curve.

ncbi summary :
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the G-protein coupled receptor family. This protein is one of four receptors identified for prostaglandin E2 (PGE2). This receptor can activate T-cell factor signaling. It has been shown to mediate PGE2 induced expression of early growth response 1 (EGR1), regulate the level and stability of cyclooxygenase-2 mRNA, and lead to the phosphorylation of glycogen synthase kinase-3. Knockout studies in mice suggest that this receptor may be involved in the neonatal adaptation of circulatory system, osteoporosis, as well as initiation of skin immune responses. uniprot summary :
PTGER4: Receptor for prostaglandin E2 (PGE2). The activity of this receptor is mediated by G(s) proteins that stimulate adenylate cyclase. Has a relaxing effect on smooth muscle. May play an important role in regulating renal hemodynamics, intestinal epithelial transport, adrenal aldosterone secretion, and uterine function. Belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 1 family. Protein type: Receptor, GPCR; Membrane protein, integral; GPCR, family 1; Membrane protein, multi-pass. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 5p13.1. Cellular Component: plasma membrane; integral to membrane. Molecular Function: protein binding; prostaglandin E receptor activity. Biological Process: G-protein signaling, coupled to cAMP nucleotide second messenger; response to mechanical stimulus; T-helper cell differentiation; regulation of stress fiber formation; negative regulation of inflammatory response; negative regulation of cytokine secretion; JNK cascade; response to lipopolysaccharide; immune response; negative regulation of integrin activation; regulation of ossification; positive regulation of inflammatory response; positive regulation of cytokine secretion
