products description :
Background: This Quantitative Sandwich ELISA kit is only for in vitro research use only, not for drug, household, therapeutic or diagnostic applications! This kit is intended to be used for determination the level of PTHRP (hereafter termed "analyte") in undiluted original Sheep body fluids, tissue homogenates, secretions or feces samples. This kit is NOT suitable for assaying non-biological sources of substances.

ncbi summary :
This gene encodes a member of the parathyroid family of hormones that possesses distinct paracrine and intracrine signaling roles such as regulation of circulating calcium, transplacental calcium transport, osteoclast inhibition, renal bicarbonate excretion and regulation of apoptosis. The encoded protein undergoes proteolytic processing to generate multiple active peptides with distinct signaling functions. The homozygous deletion of this gene leads to death shortly after birth with a chondrodystrophic phenotype characterized by premature chondrocyte differentiation and accelerated bone formation. uniprot summary :
PTHrP: a member of the parathyroid hormone family. This hormone regulates endochondral bone development and epithelial-mesenchymal interactions during the formation of the mammary glands and teeth. This hormone is involved in lactation possibly by regulating the mobilization and transfer of calcium to the milk. The receptor of this hormone, PTHR1, is responsible for most cases of humoral hypercalcemia of malignancy. Three alternatively spliced isoforms have been described. Protein type: Secreted; Secreted, signal peptide. Cellular Component: cytoplasm; extracellular space; Golgi apparatus; intracellular; nucleoplasm. Molecular Function: hormone activity; peptide hormone receptor binding. Biological Process: alveolus development; bone mineralization; endochondral ossification; endoderm development; epithelial cell differentiation; G-protein signaling, adenylate cyclase activating pathway; negative regulation of chondrocyte differentiation; negative regulation of transcription factor activity; osteoblast development; positive regulation of cAMP biosynthetic process; positive regulation of cell proliferation; protein processing; regulation of gene expression; skeletal development; surfactant homeostasis
