Intended Uses: This ELISA kit is intended for laboratory in vitro research use only, not for drug, household or other use! The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm by a spectrophotometer. In order to measure the concentration of Human FN in the sample, this ELISA kit includes a set of calibration standards. The calibration standards are assayed at the same time as the samples and allow the operator to produce a standard curve of Optical Density versus Human FN concentration. The concentration of Human FN in the samples is then determined by comparing the O.D. of the samples to the standard curve. products description :
Background: ELISA is a simple and highly sensitive method of analysis that allows for simultaneous and rapid quantification of a large number of samples. The assay is based on the specific recognition of the target compound (analyte/antigen) by antibodies which bind to the compound. The antigen-antibody complex is detected and measured with the aid of an enzyme-labeled antibody or antigen. Upon addition of a non-colored reagent, the enzyme produces a color reaction where the color intensity is directly or inversely proportional to the concentration of the analyte in the sample.

uniprot summary :
Function: Fibronectins bind cell surfaces and various compounds including collagen, fibrin, heparin, DNA, and actin. Fibronectins are involved in cell adhesion, cell motility, opsonization, wound healing, and maintenance of cell shape. May be involved in osteoblast compaction . By similarity. Subunit structure: Dimers or multimers of alternatively spliced variants, connected by 2 disulfide bonds near the carboxyl ends . By similarity. Tissue specificity: In early Xenopus embryo, cellular forms of fibronectin predominate which include both extra domains. In fibronectin of embryonic and adult liver the connecting strand 3 can be either completely excluded or included. Post-translational modification: Forms covalent cross-links mediated by a transglutaminase, such as F13A or TGM2, between a glutamine and the epsilon-amino group of a lysine residue, forming homopolymers and heteropolymers (e.g. fibrinogen-fibronectin, collagen-fibronectin heteropolymers). Sequence similarities: Contains 12 fibronectin type-I domains.Contains 2 fibronectin type-II domains.Contains 17 fibronectin type-III domains.
