Background/Introduction: This Quantitative Sandwich ELISA kit is only for in vitro research use only, not for drug, household, therapeutic or diagnostic applications! This kit is intended to be used for determination the level of S100A7 (hereafter termed "analyte") in undiluted original Human body fluids, tissue homogenates, secretions or feces samples. This kit is NOT suitable for assaying non-biological sources of substances.

uniprot summary :
S100A7: is a member of the S100 family of proteins containing 2 EF-hand calcium-binding motifs. S100 proteins are localized in the cytoplasm and/or nucleus of a wide range of cells, and involved in the regulation of a number of cellular processes such as cell cycle progression and differentiation. S100 genes include at least 13 members which are located as a cluster on chromosome 1q21. This protein differs from the other S100 proteins of known structure in its lack of calcium binding ability in one EF-hand at the N-terminus. This protein is markedly over-expressed in the skin lesions of psoriatic patients, but is excluded as a candidate gene for familial psoriasis susceptibility. The exact function of this protein is not known. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1q21. Cellular Component: focal adhesion; endoplasmic reticulum; cytoplasm; extracellular region; cytosol; nucleus. Molecular Function: RAGE receptor binding; protein binding; zinc ion binding; calcium ion binding. Biological Process: keratinocyte differentiation; sequestering of metal ion; epidermis development; response to reactive oxygen species; innate immune response; response to lipopolysaccharide; angiogenesis; defense response to Gram-negative bacterium
