Intended Uses: This ELISA kit is intended for laboratory in vitro research use only, not for drug, household or other use! The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm by a spectrophotometer. In order to measure the concentration of Fish VEGF-B in the sample, this ELISA kit includes a set of calibration standards. The calibration standards are assayed at the same time as the samples and allow the operator to produce a standard curve of Optical Density versus Fish VEGF-B concentration. The concentration of Fish VEGF-B in the samples is then determined by comparing the O.D. of the samples to the standard curve. Intra-assay Precision: Intra-assay CV (%) are less than 15%. Inter-assay Precision: Inter-assay CV (%) are less than 15%.

ncbi summary :
This gene encodes a member of the PDGF (platelet-derived growth factor)/VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor) family. The VEGF family members regulate the formation of blood vessels and are involved in endothelial cell physiology. This member is a ligand for VEGFR-1 (vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 1) and NRP-1 (neuropilin-1). Studies in mice showed that this gene was co-expressed with nuclear-encoded mitochondrial genes and the encoded protein specifically controlled endothelial uptake of fatty acids. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2011]
uniprot summary :
VEGFB: Growth factor for endothelial cells. VEGF-B167 binds heparin and neuropilin-1 whereas the binding to neuropilin-1 of VEGF-B186 is regulated by proteolysis. Homodimer; disulfide-linked. Can also form heterodimer with VEGF. Expressed in all tissues except liver. Highest levels found in heart, skeletal muscle and pancreas. Belongs to the PDGF/VEGF growth factor family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. Protein type: Cytokine; Secreted, signal peptide; Cell cycle regulation; Secreted; Motility/polarity/chemotaxis. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 11q13. Cellular Component: extracellular space; membrane; extracellular region. Molecular Function: heparin binding; protein binding; protein homodimerization activity; growth factor activity; protein heterodimerization activity; vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 1 binding; chemoattractant activity. Biological Process: response to drug; platelet activation; protein amino acid O-linked glycosylation; positive regulation of vascular endothelial growth factor receptor signaling pathway; positive regulation of vascular permeability; induction of positive chemotaxis; positive regulation of protein kinase B signaling cascade; positive regulation of peptidyl-tyrosine phosphorylation; platelet degranulation; positive chemotaxis; positive regulation of cell division; positive regulation of endothelial cell proliferation; angiogenesis; negative regulation of neuron apoptosis; vascular endothelial growth factor receptor signaling pathway; blood coagulation; negative regulation of apoptosis; cardiac muscle contraction
