Intended Uses: This ELISA kit is intended for laboratory in vitro research use only, not for drug, household or other use! The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm by a spectrophotometer. In order to measure the concentration of Human YKL40 in the sample, this ELISA kit includes a set of calibration standards. The calibration standards are assayed at the same time as the samples and allow the operator to produce a standard curve of Optical Density versus Human YKL40 concentration. The concentration of Human YKL40 in the samples is then determined by comparing the O.D. of the samples to the standard curve. Intra-assay Precision: Intra-assay CV (%) are less than 15%. Inter-assay Precision: Inter-assay CV (%) are less than 15%.
products description :
Introduction: ELISA is a simple and highly sensitive method of analysis that allows for simultaneous and rapid quantification of a large number of samples. The assay is based on the specific recognition of the target compound (analyte/antigen) by antibodies which bind to the compound. The antigen-antibody complex is detected and measured with the aid of an enzyme-labeled antibody or antigen. Upon addition of a non-colored reagent, the enzyme produces a color reaction where the color intensity is directly or inversely proportional to the concentration of the analyte in the sample.

ncbi summary :
Chitinases catalyze the hydrolysis of chitin, which is an abundant glycopolymer found in insect exoskeletons and fungal cell walls. The glycoside hydrolase 18 family of chitinases includes eight human family members. This gene encodes a glycoprotein member of the glycosyl hydrolase 18 family. The protein lacks chitinase activity and is secreted by activated macrophages, chondrocytes, neutrophils and synovial cells. The protein is thought to play a role in the process of inflammation and tissue remodeling. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009]
uniprot summary :
CHI3L1: Carbohydrate-binding lectin with a preference for chitin. May play a role in defense against pathogens, or in tissue remodeling. May play an important role in the capacity of cells to respond to and cope with changes in their environment. A genetic variation in CHI3L1 is associated with susceptibility to asthma-related traits type 7 (ASRT7). Asthma-related traits include clinical symptoms of asthma, such as coughing, wheezing and dyspnea, bronchial hyperresponsiveness (BHR) as assessed by methacholine challenge test, serum IgE levels, atopy, and atopic dermatitis. Belongs to the glycosyl hydrolase 18 family. Protein type: Secreted, signal peptide; Cell adhesion; Secreted. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1q32.1. Cellular Component: extracellular space; proteinaceous extracellular matrix; endoplasmic reticulum; perinuclear region of cytoplasm; cytoplasm. Molecular Function: extracellular matrix structural constituent; chitin binding; chitinase activity; carbohydrate binding. Biological Process: positive regulation of protein kinase B signaling cascade; positive regulation of angiogenesis; response to mechanical stimulus; apoptosis; cartilage development; carbohydrate metabolic process; activation of NF-kappaB-inducing kinase; immune response; chitin catabolic process; inflammatory response; lung development. Disease: Schizophrenia; Asthma-related Traits, Susceptibility To, 7
