products description :
Background/Introduction: This Quantitative Sandwich ELISA kit is only for in vitro research use only, not for drug, household, therapeutic or diagnostic applications! This kit is intended to be used for determination the level of L-FABP (hereafter termed "analyte") in undiluted original Fish body fluids, tissue homogenates, secretions or feces samples. This kit is NOT suitable for assaying non-biological sources of substances.

ncbi summary :
This gene encodes the fatty acid binding protein found in liver. Fatty acid binding proteins are a family of small, highly conserved, cytoplasmic proteins that bind long-chain fatty acids and other hydrophobic ligands. This protein and FABP6 (the ileal fatty acid binding protein) are also able to bind bile acids. It is thought that FABPs roles include fatty acid uptake, transport, and metabolism. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2011]
uniprot summary :
FABP1: Binds free fatty acids and their coenzyme A derivatives, bilirubin, and some other small molecules in the cytoplasm. May be involved in intracellular lipid transport. Belongs to the calycin superfamily. Fatty-acid binding protein (FABP) family. Protein type: Lipid-binding. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 2p11. Cellular Component: nucleoplasm; peroxisomal matrix; apical cortex; cytosol. Molecular Function: antioxidant activity; bile acid binding; phospholipid binding; long-chain fatty acid transporter activity; drug binding; chromatin binding; fatty acid binding. Biological Process: long-chain fatty acid transport; positive regulation of cell proliferation; positive regulation of hydrolase activity; cellular lipid metabolic process; negative regulation of caspase activity; positive regulation of fatty acid beta-oxidation; negative regulation of apoptosis; intestinal absorption
