Background: This Quantitative Sandwich ELISA kit is only for in vitro research use only, not for drug, household, therapeutic or diagnostic applications! This kit is intended to be used for determination the level of CHGA (hereafter termed "analyte") in undiluted original Horse body fluids, tissue homogenates, secretions or feces samples. This kit is NOT suitable for assaying non-biological sources of substances.

ncbi summary :
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the chromogranin/secretogranin family of neuroendocrine secretory proteins. It is found in secretory vesicles of neurons and endocrine cells. This gene product is a precursor to three biologically active peptides; vasostatin, pancreastatin, and parastatin. These peptides act as autocrine or paracrine negative modulators of the neuroendocrine system. Other peptides, including chromostatin, beta-granin, WE-14 and GE-25, are also derived from the full-length protein. However, biological activities for these molecules have not been shown. uniprot summary :
CHGA: a member of the chromogranin/secretogranin family of neuroendocrine secretory proteins. It is found in secretory vesicles of neurons and endocrine cells and is a precursor to multiple biologically active peptides including vasostatin, pancreastatin, and chromostatin. Binds calcium with a low-affinity. Vasostatin negatively regulates angiogenesis and has antibacterial activity against some Gram-positive bacteria. Pancreastatin inhibits glucose induced insulin release from the pancreas. Chromostatin inhibits catecholamine release from chromaffin cells. Protein type: Secreted, signal peptide; Secreted; Vesicle; Cell adhesion. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 14q32. Cellular Component: perinuclear region of cytoplasm; extracellular region; secretory granule. Biological Process: regulation of blood pressure
