other info1 :
Samples: Serum, Plasma, Tissue Homogenate, Feces, Urine and Body Fluids. Intended Uses: This Quantitative Sandwich ELISA kit is only for in vitro research use only, not for drug, household, therapeutic or diagnostic applications! It is intended to be determinated LPL concentrations in Human serum, plasma and other body fluids. Using Purified Human LPL antibody to coat Microelisa Stripplate wells to make solid-phase antibody, then add LPL and LPL antibody which has been labeled with HRP to wells, then the reactants become antibody-antigen-antibody-enzyme complex, after washing completely, add TMB substrate solution, TMB substrate becomes blue color under HRP enzyme-catalyzed, reaction is terminated by the addition of a sulphuric acid solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm. The concentration of LPL in the samples is then determined by comparing the O.D. of the samples to the standard curve. Detection Range: The detection range of this kit is 50U/L-1600U/L.
other info2 :
Sensitivity: The sensitivity of this kit is 10U/L. Intra-assay Precision: Intra-assay CV (%) is less than 15%. Inter-assay Precision: Inter-assay CV (%) is less than 15%. [CV(%) = SD/mean ×100]

ncbi summary :
LPL encodes lipoprotein lipase, which is expressed in heart, muscle, and adipose tissue. LPL functions as a homodimer, and has the dual functions of triglyceride hydrolase and ligand/bridging factor for receptor-mediated lipoprotein uptake. Severe mutations that cause LPL deficiency result in type I hyperlipoproteinemia, while less extreme mutations in LPL are linked to many disorders of lipoprotein metabolism. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
uniprot summary :
Function: The primary function of this lipase is the hydrolysis of triglycerides of circulating chylomicrons and very low density lipoproteins (VLDL). Binding to heparin sulfate proteogylcans at the cell surface is vital to the function. The apolipoprotein, APOC2, acts as a coactivator of LPL activity in the presence of lipids on the luminal surface of vascular endothelium . By similarity. Catalytic activity: Triacylglycerol + H2O = diacylglycerol + a carboxylate. Ref.11. Subunit structure: Homodimer . By similarity. Interacts with APOC2; the interaction activates LPL activity in the presence of lipids. Interacts with GPIHBP1. Ref.12. Subcellular location: Cell membrane . By similarity; Lipid-anchor GPI-anchor . By similarity. Secreted . By similarity. Note: Locates to the plasma membrane of microvilli of hepatocytes with triacyl-glycerol-rich lipoproteins (TRL). Some of the bound LPL is then internalized and located inside non-coated endocytic vesicles . By similarity. Post-translational modification: Tyrosine nitration after lipopolysaccharide (LPS) challenge down-regulates the lipase activity . By similarity. Involvement in disease: Lipoprotein lipase deficiency (LPL deficiency) [MIM:238600]: Recessive disorder usually manifesting in childhood. On a normal diet, patients often present with abdominal pain, hepatosplenomegaly, lipemia retinalis, eruptive xanthomata, and massive hypertriglyceridemia, sometimes complicated with acute pancreatitis.Note: The disease is caused by mutations affecting the gene represented in this entry. Sequence similarities: Belongs to the AB hydrolase superfamily. Lipase family.Contains 1 PLAT domain.
