other info1 :
Samples: Serum, Plasma, Tissue Homogenate, Feces, Urine and Body Fluids. Intended Uses: This Quantitative Sandwich ELISA kit is only for in vitro research use only, not for drug, household, therapeutic or diagnostic applications! It is intended to be determinated IGF1 concentrations in Horse serum, plasma and other body fluids. Using Purified Horse IGF1 antibody to coat Microelisa Stripplate wells to make solid-phase antibody, then add IGF1 and IGF1 antibody which has been labeled with HRP to wells, then the reactants become antibody-antigen-antibody-enzyme complex, after washing completely, add TMB substrate solution, TMB substrate becomes blue color under HRP enzyme-catalyzed, reaction is terminated by the addition of a sulphuric acid solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm. The concentration of IGF1 in the samples is then determined by comparing the O.D. of the samples to the standard curve.
other info2 :
Detection Range: The detection range of this kit is 15.6 ng/ml - 500 ng/ml. Sensitivity: The sensitivity of this kit is 2.0 ng/ml. Intra-assay Precision: Intra-assay CV (%) is less than 15%. Inter-assay Precision: Inter-assay CV (%) is less than 15%. [CV(%) = SD/mean x100]

ncbi summary :
The protein encoded by this gene is similar to insulin in function and structure and is a member of a family of proteins involved in mediating growth and development. The encoded protein is processed from a precursor, bound by a specific receptor, and secreted. Defects in this gene are a cause of insulin-like growth factor I deficiency. Several transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.[provided by RefSeq, Mar 2009]
uniprot summary :
Function: The insulin-like growth factors, isolated from plasma, are structurally and functionally related to insulin but have a much higher growth-promoting activity. May be a physiological regulator of [1-14C]-2-deoxy-D-glucose (2DG) transport and glycogen synthesis in osteoblasts. Stimulates glucose transport in rat bone-derived osteoblastic (PyMS) cells and is effective at much lower concentrations than insulin, not only regarding glycogen and DNA synthesis but also with regard to enhancing glucose uptake. Ref.17. Subcellular location: Secreted. Involvement in disease: Insulin-like growth factor I deficiency (IGF1 deficiency) [MIM:608747]: Autosomal recessive disorder characterized by growth retardation, sensorineural deafness and mental retardation.Note: The disease is caused by mutations affecting the gene represented in this entry. Sequence similarities: Belongs to the insulin family. Sequence caution: The sequence CAA27250.1 differs from that shown. Reason: Erroneous gene model prediction.
