other info2 :
Intended Uses: This Quantitative Sandwich ELISA kit is only for in vitro research use only, not for drug, household, therapeutic or diagnostic applications! It is intended to be determinated DAT concentrations in Monkey serum, plasma and other body fluids. Using Purified Monkey DAT antibody to coat Microelisa Stripplate wells to make solid-phase antibody, then add DAT and DAT antibody which has been labeled with HRP to wells, then the reactants become antibody-antigen-antibody-enzyme complex, after washing completely, add TMB substrate solution, TMB substrate becomes blue color under HRP enzyme-catalyzed, reaction is terminated by the addition of a sulphuric acid solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm. The concentration of DAT in the samples is then determined by comparing the O.D. of the samples to the standard curve. Intra-assay Precision: Intra-assay CV (%) is less than 15%. Inter-assay Precision: Inter-assay CV (%) is less than 15%. [CV(%) = SD/mean ×100]

ncbi summary :
This gene encodes a dopamine transporter which is a member of the sodium- and chloride-dependent neurotransmitter transporter family. The 3' UTR of this gene contains a 40 bp tandem repeat, referred to as a variable number tandem repeat or VNTR, which can be present in 3 to 11 copies. Variation in the number of repeats is associated with idiopathic epilepsy, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, dependence on alcohol and cocaine, susceptibility to Parkinson disease and protection against nicotine dependence.[provided by RefSeq, Nov 2009]
uniprot summary :
DAT: Amine transporter. Terminates the action of dopamine by its high affinity sodium-dependent reuptake into presynaptic terminals. Defects in SLC6A3 are the cause of dystonia-parkinsonism infantile (DYTPRI). It is a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by infantile onset of parkinsonism and dystonia. Other neurologic features include global developmental delay, bradikinesia and pyramidal tract signs. Belongs to the sodium:neurotransmitter symporter (SNF) (TC 2.A.22) family. SLC6A3 subfamily. Protein type: Membrane protein, multi-pass; Transporter, SLC family; Membrane protein, integral; Transporter. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 5p15.3. Cellular Component: cell soma; integral to plasma membrane; axon; cytoplasm; plasma membrane; integral to membrane. Molecular Function: protein binding; protease binding; protein complex binding; dopamine binding; monoamine transmembrane transporter activity; protein N-terminus binding; drug binding; dopamine:sodium symporter activity; dopamine transmembrane transporter activity; receptor binding. Biological Process: response to drug; response to nicotine; lactation; dopamine transport; response to cAMP; prepulse inhibition; dopamine catabolic process; regulation of dopamine metabolic process; monoamine transport; sensory perception of smell; locomotory behavior; dopamine biosynthetic process; positive regulation of multicellular organism growth; response to cocaine; synaptic transmission; response to ethanol; neurotransmitter transport; adenohypophysis development; response to iron ion; transmembrane transport; neurotransmitter biosynthetic process; aging.
