other info2 :
Intended Uses: ELISA is a simple and highly sensitive method of analysis that allows for simultaneous and rapid quantification of a large number of samples. The assay is based on the specific recognition of the target compound (analyte/antigen) by antibodies which bind to the compound. The antigen-antibody complex is detected and measured with the aid of an enzyme-labeled antibody or antigen. Upon addition of a non-colored reagent, the enzyme produces a color reaction where the color intensity is directly or inversely proportional to the concentration of the analyte in the sample. This quantitative Sandwich ELISA kit is in tended to determinate VEGF-D concentrations in Hamster serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, feces, urine and body fluids, and it is only for research, not for drug, household, therapeutic or diagnostic applications. Intra-assay Precision: Intra-assay CV (%) is less than 15%. Inter-assay Precision: Inter-assay CV (%) is less than 15%. [CV(%) = SD/mean x100]

ncbi summary :
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the platelet-derived growth factor/vascular endothelial growth factor (PDGF/VEGF) family and is active in angiogenesis, lymphangiogenesis, and endothelial cell growth. This secreted protein undergoes a complex proteolytic maturation, generating multiple processed forms which bind and activate VEGFR-2 and VEGFR-3 receptors. This protein is structurally and functionally similar to vascular endothelial growth factor C. Read-through transcription has been observed between this locus and the upstream PIR (GeneID 8544) locus. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2011]
uniprot summary :
VEGFD: Growth factor active in angiogenesis, lymphangiogenesis and endothelial cell growth, stimulating their proliferation and migration and also has effects on the permeability of blood vessels. May function in the formation of the venous and lymphatic vascular systems during embryogenesis, and also in the maintenance of differentiated lymphatic endothelium in adults. Binds and activates VEGFR-2 (KDR/FLK1) and VEGFR-3 (FLT4) receptors. Belongs to the PDGF/VEGF growth factor family. Protein type: Motility/polarity/chemotaxis; Secreted; Secreted, signal peptide; Cytokine. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: Xp22.31. Cellular Component: extracellular space; membrane; extracellular region. Molecular Function: protein homodimerization activity; growth factor activity; platelet-derived growth factor receptor binding; vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 3 binding; vascular endothelial growth factor receptor binding; chemoattractant activity. Biological Process: platelet activation; cell proliferation; platelet degranulation; positive chemotaxis; positive regulation of cell division; positive regulation of cell proliferation; angiogenesis; blood coagulation; cell differentiation; vascular endothelial growth factor receptor signaling pathway; induction of positive chemotaxis
