other info1 :
Samples: Serum, Plasma, Tissue Homogenate, Feces, Urine and Body Fluids. Intended Uses: This Quantitative Sandwich ELISA kit is only for in vitro research use only, not for drug, household, therapeutic or diagnostic applications! It is intended to be determinated VEGF-B concentrations in Human serum, plasma and other body fluids. Using Purified Human VEGF-B antibody to coat Microelisa Stripplate wells to make solid-phase antibody, then add VEGF-B and VEGF-B antibody which has been labeled with HRP to wells, then the reactants become antibody-antigen-antibody-enzyme complex, after washing completely, add TMB substrate solution, TMB substrate becomes blue color under HRP enzyme-catalyzed, reaction is terminated by the addition of a sulphuric acid solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm. The concentration of VEGF-B in the samples is then determined by comparing the O.D. of the samples to the standard curve. Detection Range: The detection range of this kit is 31.2pg/ml-1000pg/ml.
other info2 :
Sensitivity: The sensitivity of this kit is 5.0pg/ml. Intra-assay Precision: Intra-assay CV (%) is less than 15%. Inter-assay Precision: Inter-assay CV (%) is less than 15%. [CV(%) = SD/mean ×100]

ncbi summary :
This gene encodes a member of the PDGF (platelet-derived growth factor)/VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor) family. The VEGF family members regulate the formation of blood vessels and are involved in endothelial cell physiology. This member is a ligand for VEGFR-1 (vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 1) and NRP-1 (neuropilin-1). Studies in mice showed that this gene was co-expressed with nuclear-encoded mitochondrial genes and the encoded protein specifically controlled endothelial uptake of fatty acids. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2011]
uniprot summary :
Function: Growth factor for endothelial cells. VEGF-B167 binds heparin and neuropilin-1 whereas the binding to neuropilin-1 of VEGF-B186 is regulated by proteolysis. Subunit structure: Homodimer; disulfide-linked. Can also form heterodimer with VEGF. Ref.5. Subcellular location: Secreted. Note: Secreted but remains associated to cells or to the extracellular matrix unless released by heparin. Tissue specificity: Expressed in all tissues except liver. Highest levels found in heart, skeletal muscle and pancreas. Post-translational modification: VEGF-B186 is O-glycosylated . By similarity. Sequence similarities: Belongs to the PDGF/VEGF growth factor family.
