Intended Uses: This ELISA kit is intended for laboratory in vitro research use only, not for drug, household or other use! The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm by a spectrophotometer. In order to measure the concentration of Hamster LTC4 in the specimen, this ELISA kit includes a set of calibration standards. The calibration standards are assayed at the same time as the specimens and allow the operator to produce a standard curve of Optical Density versus Hamster LTC4 concentration. The concentration of Hamster LTC4 in the specimens is then determined by comparing the O.D. of the specimens to the standard curve.

The MAPEG (Membrane Associated Proteins in Eicosanoid and Glutathione metabolism) family includes a number of human proteins, several of which are involved the production of leukotrienes. This gene encodes an enzyme that catalyzes the first step in the biosynthesis of cysteinyl leukotrienes, potent biological compounds derived from arachidonic acid. Leukotrienes have been implicated as mediators of anaphylaxis and inflammatory conditions such as human bronchial asthma. LTC4S: Catalyzes the conjugation of leukotriene A4 with reduced glutathione to form leukotriene C4. Defects in LTC4S are the cause of leukotriene C4 synthase deficiency (LTC4 synthase deficiency). LTC4 synthase deficiency is a fatal neurometabolic developmental disorder. It is associated with muscular hypotonia, psychomotor retardation, failure to thrive, and microcephaly.
