IGFBP-5 is only one of a family of six IGFBPs. IGFBP-5 is a 29 kDa phosphorylated and glycosylated protein, which is secreted by a wide variety of cell types during different growth conditions. IGFBP-5, the most conserved IGFBP, is the major protein secreted by skeletal muscles.
