The CLEC9A protein is uniquely expressed on specific myeloid cells and acts as an endocytic receptor responsible for the uptake and processing of materials from dead cells. CLEC9A recognizes filamentous actin, especially in damaged cell membranes, and plays a critical role in Syk-dependent cross-presentation of dead cell antigens.
