The CHST3 protein utilizes PAPS to keyly catalyze the transfer of sulfate to position 6 of GalNAc in chondroitin, the major proteoglycan in cartilage. CHST3 also sulfonates Gal residues in keratan sulfate and sialic acid LacNAc oligosaccharides with less efficiency.
