Background :

Asialoglycoprotein receptor 1 (ASGR1) has long been recognized as a hepatic surface marker and has been used to identify circulating hepatocellular carcinoma cells, purify hPSC-derived hepatocyte-like cells (HLCs) and to demonstrate the efficiency of HLC differentiation from hPSCs. ASGR1 marks a subset of albumin-positive HLCs, which are more similar than unpurified cells to mature hepatocytes [1] .
