Apolipoprotein H/APOH protein binds to heparin, phospholipids, and dextran sulfate, preventing activation of the blood coagulation cascade by interacting with phospholipids on damaged cell surfaces. Apolipoprotein H/APOH protein is known for its ability to bind to negatively charged substances including heparin, phospholipids, and dextran sulfate. It is believed to play a role in preventing the activation of the intrinsic blood coagulation cascade by interacting with phospholipids found on the surface of damaged cells.
