The FABP4 protein binds hormone receptors, fatty acids, and transports them. It regulates thermogenesis, brown fat cell differentiation, and response to lithium ion. It is located in the cytoplasm and nucleus, and is expressed in adipose tissue, CNS, genitourinary system, gut, and heart. It shares orthology with human FABP4. Biased expression is seen in subcutaneous and genital fat pads. FABP4 Protein, Mouse (His) is the recombinant mouse-derived FABP4 protein, expressed by E. coli , with N-His labeled tag. The total length of FABP4 Protein, Mouse (His) is 131 a.a., with molecular weight of ~15.63 kDa.

The FABP4 protein possesses hormone receptor binding, long-chain fatty acid binding, and long-chain fatty acid transporter activities. It plays a role in transporting long-chain fatty acids and positively regulates cold-induced thermogenesis. It is involved in various processes, including brown fat cell differentiation, cellular response to lithium ion, and negative regulation of nitrogen compound metabolism. FABP4 is located in both the cytoplasm and nucleus and is expressed in several structures, including adipose tissue, the central nervous system, the genitourinary system, the gut, and the heart. It shares orthology with human FABP4 (fatty acid binding protein 4). The biased expression of FABP4 is observed in adult subcutaneous fat pad (RPKM 1709.3), genital fat pad adult (RPKM 1107.4), and four other tissues, as provided by the Alliance of Genome Resources in April 2022.
