The FABP4 protein binds hormone receptors, fatty acids, and transports them. It regulates thermogenesis, brown fat cell differentiation, and response to lithium ion. It is located in the cytoplasm and nucleus, and is expressed in adipose tissue, CNS, genitourinary system, gut, and heart. It shares orthology with human FABP4.
