CD23/Fc epsilon RII Protein, a low-affinity receptor for IgE and CR2/CD21, regulates IgE production and B cell differentiation. On B cells, it initiates IgE-dependent antigen uptake and presentation to T cells. On macrophages, IgE binding induces intracellular killing of parasites through the L-Arginine-nitric oxide pathway. CD23/Fc epsilon RII homotrimer interacts with IGHE to regulate IgE homeostasis and with CR2/CD21 for binding.
