Ephrin-A3/EFNA3 Protein is a cell surface GPI-bound ligand that plays a critical role in neuronal, vascular, and epithelial development by interacting with Eph receptors, a family of receptor tyrosine kinases involved in migration, repulsion, and adhesion. It binds promiscuously to Eph receptors on adjacent cells, initiating contact-dependent bidirectional signaling. The receptor's downstream signaling is known as forward signaling, while the ephrin ligand's downstream signaling is referred to as reverse signaling.
