VISTA/B7-H5 Protein is a type I transmembrane protein expressed primarily in white blood cells that inhibits T cell function. VISTA/B7-H5 Protein promotes embryonic stem cell differentiation by inhibiting BMP4 signaling and stimulates MMP14 mediated MMP2 activation. VISTA/B7-H5 Protein is highly expressed in tumors. VISTA is a type I transmembrane protein that functions as an immune checkpoint. VISTA is a member of the B7 family and is mainly expressed in white blood cells, whose transcription is partially controlled by p53 . VISTA can act as a ligand and receptor of T cells, inhibit T cell effector function, and maintain peripheral tolerance. VISTA promotes embryonic stem cell differentiation by inhibiting BMP4 signaling. VISTA stimulates MMP14 mediated MMP2 activation. VISTA is produced at high levels in tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes, and blocking VISTA with antibodies led to delayed tumor growth in mouse models of melanoma and squamous cell carcinoma. Increased VISTA levels were associated with increased immune activation and a decrease in CD4-positive T cells [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] .
