The SF3R gene is involved in various biological processes and functions. It regulates insulin action by promoting the clearance of insulin and regulating lipogenesis in the liver. Upon insulin stimulation, SF3R undergoes phosphorylation by the insulin receptor (INSR), leading to increased insulin endocytosis and degradation. This results in a reduction of fatty acid synthesis.
