Moreover, PDGF-DD is involved in orchestrating events critical for angiogenesis, including macrophage recruitment, increased interstitial pressure, and blood vessel maturation. Its ability to initiate processes leading to mesangial proliferative glomerulonephritis, characterized by monocyte and macrophage influx along with extracellular matrix production, underscores its regulatory impact in pathophysiological conditions. The protein forms homodimers through disulfide linkages and interacts with PDGFRB homodimers, as well as heterodimers formed by PDGFRA and PDGFRB, illustrating its complex engagement in signaling pathways.
