Spondin-2 protein is a matricellular protein with antigen binding, lipopolysaccharide binding and metal ion binding activity. Spondin-2 is essential for recruiting lymphocytes and initiating immune responses while being involved in cell adhesion, defense response to other organism; opsonization; and positive regulation of cytokine production. Spondin-2 is found to promote infiltration of M1-like macrophages and inhibits tumor metastasis in cancer research.
