SMOC1 Protein is a matricellular protein that interferes with growth factor receptor signalling. SMOC1 Protein plays essential roles in both eye and limb development and is a regulator of osteoblast differentiation. SMOC1 encodes a multi-domain secreted protein that may have a critical role in ocular and limb development. Mutations in this gene are associated with microphthalmia and limb anomalies [1] [2] .
