Recognizes human Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD). G6PD has a molecular weight of ~104 kD, comprised of two subunits of ~55kD. G6PD is an important enzyme in the pentose phosphate pathway, which catalyses the oxidation of glucose-6-phosphate to ribose-5-phosphate, producing NADPH, a key electron donor in the defense against oxidizing agents. G6PD deficiency is a hereditary, X-linked recessive disorder which can result in acute hemolysis.
