Specificity :
Recognizes human IL-10 (Interleukin-10), an 18.5kD immunosuppressive cytokine originally known as cytokine synthesis inhibiting factor (CSIF), which specifically regulates immune-mediated inflammation and shares high sequence homology with murine IL-10 and the viral protein BCRF1. IL-10, produced by macrophages, mast cells, T cells, activated B cells and keratinocytes, inhibits the secretion of a variety of pro-inflammatory cytokines including TNFalpha, IL-1, IL-2, IL-3 and IL-8 and is chemotactic for CD8+ T cells. The suppressive ability of IL-10 has become a focus area for the treatment of Crohn's disease, but with conflicting results.
