Specificity :
Recognizes human adrenocorticotrophin (ACTH), a 39 amino acid cleavage product from pro-opiomelanocortin (POMC) which elicits a classic glucocorticoid response from the adrenal glands in situations of stress. ACTH is produced in the pituitary, and also by lymphocytes and macrophages. In immunohistology this antibody stains corticotroph cells of the pituitary gland and benign and malignant tumors arising from these cells.
