Background :

IL-2 is a potent lymphoid cell growth factor which exerts its biological activity primarily on T-cells promoting proliferation and maturation. Additionally, IL-2 has been found to stimulate growth and differentiation of B cells, NK cells, LAK cells, monocytes, and oligodendocytes. Recombinant human IL-2 is a 15.5 kDa protein containing 134 amino acid residues including one intrachain disulfide bond.

Assay Principle :

The method employs a sandwich ELISA technique. Monoclonal antibodies are pre-coated onto microwells. Samples and standards are pipetted into microwells and analyte present in the sample are bound by the antibodies. Biotin labeled anti-analyte antibodies are added and followed by Streptavidin-HRP pipetting and incubation to form a complex. After washing microwells in order to remove any non-specific binding, the substrate solution (TMB) is added to microwells and color develops proportionally to the amount of analyte in the sample. Color development is then stopped by addition of stop solution. Absorbance is measured at 450 nm.
