Description :
Tumor necrosis factor, -induced protein 8-like 1, also known as TNF -IP 8L1, is a 186 amino acid protein belonging to the TNF -IP 8 family. Members of the TNF -IP 8 family are induced by nuclear factor- B 9 (NF B) and tumor necrosis factor (TNF), although induction by TNF is dependent upon NF B activation. TNF -IP 8 proteins also act as a negative mediator of apoptosis and may play a role in tumor progression. They suppress TNF-mediated apoptosis by inhibiting caspase-8 activity but not the processing of procaspase-8, subsequently resulting in inhibition of BID cleavage and caspase-3 activation.
