Description :
SIRP beta and SIRP gamma are two members of the signal regulatory protein (SIRP) family. These proteins are transmembrane receptors that are expressed on the surface of various cells, including immune cells and neurons. The function of SIRP beta and SIRP gamma is to regulate cellular signaling pathways that are involved in immune responses, cell adhesion, and phagocytosis. Specifically, these proteins interact with the protein tyrosine phosphatase SHP-1, which is a negative regulator of immune cell activation. By binding to SHP-1, SIRP beta and SIRP gamma can inhibit immune cell activation and promote immune tolerance. In addition to their role in immune regulation, SIRP beta and SIRP gamma have also been implicated in neuronal signaling and synaptic plasticity. These proteins are thought to play a role in the formation and maintenance of synapses, as well as in the regulation of neuronal activity.
