Background :
This antigen was identified by differential screening of cDNA libraries from estrogen responsive breast cancer cell lines. This antigen is expressed in normal gastric and small intestinal mucosa and breast epithelium. In cancer, this antigen is expressed in gastric carcinoma and gynecological cancers. This antibody recognizes cytoplasm with perinuclear condensation. Presence of this antigen in breast carcinomas provides research investigators supplementary information for identifying patients with likely positive response to hormone therapy and a favorable prognosis.
