Background :
CD42b is a platelet activation marker involved in the process of coagulation as an aggregating factor. It interacts with extracellular matrix as well as with adhesion molecules. Its expression and activation seems to be regulated by VEGF and PDGF.
Immunogen :
Tissue / cell preparation: Human washed platelets.
Specificity :
Reacts with glycoprotein Ib on megakaryocytes and platelets. Inhibits the ristocetin dependent binding of Von Willebrand factor to platelets and ristocetin induced platelet agglutination. Inhibits platelet aggregation induced by Type I collagen and platelet activating factor (PAF). Immunoprecipitates the components of glycoprotein Ib complex.
