Background :

SAP30 (Sin3A-associated protein, 30kDa) is a member of the histone deacetylase complex which consists of SIN3, SAP18, HDAC1, HDAC2, RbAp46, RbAp48, and other polypeptides. It is active in deacetylating core histone octamers, but inactive in deacetylating nucleosomal histones, since histone-binding proteins RBBP7 and RBBP4 are unable to gain access to nucleosomal histones.
