The 11S proteasome activator (also known as PA28) is a 200 kDa protein complex composed of two different subunits (α and β) that both have an apparent molecular weight of approximately 28 kDa in vivo. The 11S most probably exists as a hepta-heteromeric complex, the exact stoichiometry of which is still debated.
