Tetradecylthioacetic acid (TTA) is a novel thio-fatty acid which cannot undergo β-oxidation. It induces apoptosis in IPC-81 leukemia cells via depolarization of mitochondrial membrane potential. Activates rodent PPARs with rank order PPARα > PPARδ > PPARγ.
