Selective cyclooxygenase (COX) inhibitor (IC50=14.9 µM). Inhibits PGH synthase-1 and PGH synthase-2 with comparable potency (ID50=8.9-14 and 7.2-8.2 µM respectively; data are for (S) isomer). Clinically useful NSAID. Inhibits the neutrophil-dependent edema response of rabbit skin to C5a/PGE2.
