Background :

Cathepsin L [EC 3.4.22.15] is a lysosomal endopeptidase belonging to the papain family of the closely related cysteine proteases superfamily. The enzyme is ubiquitously distributed in the lysosomes of all cells and seems to be involved in a variety of disorders in which the pathological destruction of the extracellular matrix is one of the main characteristics.

Immunogen :

Synthetic peptide corresponding to aa 200-217 (Y200SVANDTGFVDIPKQEKA217) of human procathepsin L.

Specificity :

Recognizes the epitope I211PKQ214 of human procathepsin L. Recognizes mature human single or two chain cathepsin L (heavy chain) and human procathepsin L.
