Background :
OSF-2 functions as a cell-adhesion molecule for pro-osteoblasts and is thought to be involved in osteoblast recruitment, attachment and spreading. Patients with bone metastases from breast (but not lung) cancer show elevated levels of OSF-2. OSF-2 expression is significantly increased by bone morphogenetic protein 2 (BMP-2).
