Background :
Amphiphysin I associates with the cytoplasmic surface of synaptic vesicles. It is highly enriched in nerve termini, where it has a putative role in clathrin-dependent recycling of secretory vesicles. Amphiphysin is thought to play a role in clathrin mediated endocytosis. It is the dominant autoantigen in paraneoplastic Stiff-Man syndrome.
