The structure and function of CD proteins varies greatly and includes a multitude of receptors involved in cell adhesion, signal transduction, and antigen recognition. For example, CD8 (cytotoxic) and CD8 (helper) are well established T-lymphocyte markers, and function as co-receptors for MHC-I and MHC-II, respectively.
